Sundays at Life Church

We love welcoming visitors to Life Church!

We meet every Sunday morning in Peterborough at the Thomas Deacon Academy (TDA) starting at 10am with freshly brewed coffee and tea. The meeting usually finishes around 12noon.

Our time together includes contemporary praise and worship, along with relevant teaching from the Bible and some moments of prayer. Each week we have special activities organised for children:

  • Pips creche for newborns - 2s
  • Shoots for 3-4s
  • GLO kids' club for primary school aged children (starts at 10am).
Young people of secondary school age meet in their own groups following our worship:
  • Encounter for young people in school years Y7-9, and
  • Engage for Y10-13.

Our meetings are mostly informal and relaxed. During our time together you may find many people clapping or raising their hands as an expression of worship.

Feel free to sit or stand and join in as much or as little as you want - there’s no obligation to do anything. We often include an opportunity for people to be prayed for, or to respond to the teaching. Sometimes we share bread and wine together (Holy Communion).

If it's your first time coming to church, we realise that this can all feel a bit daunting and we'll do our best to help you feel at ease. Our Welcome Team will be on hand to answer any questions.

It's our aim that people experience a true encounter with God during the meeting and are able to learn about what it means to follow Jesus Christ and how that affects day to day life.

Here are some frequently asked questions:

Where do you meet?
We meet on Sundays in Peterborough at TDA: the Thomas Deacon Academy (Queen's Gardens, PE1 2UW).

What Time?
Our Sunday meetings start at 10am with freshly brewed coffee and tea, and finish around 12noon.

What should I wear?
Wear whatever you feel comfortable in - we're pretty relaxed. Whether you feel most at home in jeans and a t-shirt or prefer a smarter look, it's up to you! You'll spot a diverse range of styles at Life Church, though on the whole it's pretty casual.

Is there anything for my children?
Our Pips and Shoots creches are available for babies and pre-schoolers each week, and primary school-aged children are invited to join GLO kids' club (which starts at 10am). Our Life Youth groups (for 11-18s) meet every week. Please ask the Welcome Team for further details.

What do you believe?
We are a mainstream Christian church that holds to the accepted beliefs of most evangelical churches. Click here to find out more.

Will I be expected to do anything?
No! Although many people participate in our lively meetings, there is no compulsion for you to do anything. If you would like to come along and just take a look, that's fine.

What else happens during a Sunday morning?
In addition to the normal format of our Sunday meetings, one or more of the following may also be part of the service:

  • Water baptism (by full immersion) of believers; a vital step in the normal Christian life.
  • Worshipping in different languages (sometimes called ‘tongues’) as an overflow of our love and adoration of who God is.
  • Children joining in to express our heart to be a church family.
